Mother & Child Health Initiative

Community partners & volunteers

Community opportunities

Our research would not be possible without the collaboration of our community partners across the Greater Toronto Area, including prenatal centres, midwife clinics, and physician offices. There are a number of ways that you can help improve our connections in the community and recruit new participants to our initiative, depending on your organization’s mandate. We strive to ensure our study cohort is as representative as possible.

Our partnership could take many forms, including:

  • Hosting a Mother & Child Health Initiative clinic at your location

  • Organizing an information booth at various community, prenatal, and health-related events

  • Sending or posting promotional materials to help inform pregnant women about this initiative

Interested in getting involved?
Please contact our clinical research project coordinators at motherand.child@sickkids.ca to discuss how your centre can be involved!

Volunteer opportunities

The Mother & Child Health Initiative is part of the Canadian Laboratory Initiative on Pediatric Reference Intervals (CALIPER) at SickKids. Individuals can volunteer in this initiative through the CALIPER program.

Volunteering with the CALIPER program will give you the chance to participate in a world-leading, Canada-wide health initiative. Your commitment will help advance research that seeks to improve outcomes for children with medical concerns. Volunteers are vital to the functioning of the CALIPER program and they assist in many of its day-to-day tasks.

Please visit the CALIPER Volunteer Page for information on volunteer tasks and the application process.
